Item No.: <br />Date: August 12, 2019 <br />Item Description: East Long Lake Trail Design and Engineering Approval <br />Presenter: Adam T. Edwards Agenda Consent Agenda <br />Public Works Director/City Engineer Section: <br />1. Purpose. The purpose of this action item is for Council approval to commence design and <br />engineering for the East Long Lake Road Trail project. <br />2. Background. At the May 29th, 2018 meeting, the City Council directed staff and the Parks <br />Commission to develop a plan for the conversion of northern section East Long Lake Road to a trail. The <br />commission, city staff and our consultant have held several meetings and developed a concept plan for the <br />trail. The Council approved the plan on November 26th, 2018. In March of 2019 the city applied for and <br />in July of 2019 was awarded a Grant from the MnDNR for $150,000 for the project. <br />3. Scope of Work. <br />a. Project Scope. The scope of works includes removal of the existing asphalt, stabilizing the <br />lakeshore where required, construction of a l Oft wide multipurpose trail, benches, rock fishing points, and <br />interpretive signage. <br />b. Engineering Scope. The scope of work for design and engineering includes; survey, permitting, <br />design and bid packet development. (Exhibit A) <br />4. Cost. <br />a. Project. The estimated cost to for all of the improvements listed in the grant is $410,520. <br />b. Engineering. The proposal form Bolton and Menk (BMI) is for a fee not to exceed $52,050. <br />5. Funding. The grant will fund $150,000 of the project cost. The remaining $260,520 would paid <br />from the Parks Enterprise, Stormwater fund, Street fund and from other partner sources. <br />6.
