ORONO PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING <br /> MINUTES FOR NOVEMBER 16, 1998 <br /> (#8) #2437 JEFF MARTINEAU, 2565 NORTH SHORE DRIVE, VARIANCES, 8:32 p.m. -8:45 p.m. <br /> The Certificate of Mailing and Affidavit of Publication were noted. <br /> Jeff Martineau was present. <br /> Weinberger stated the Applicant is proposing to construct a 3' by 13' addition to the residence <br /> located within the 0-75' lakeshore setback which requires a variance to the average lakeshore <br /> setback and a variance to the allowed hardcover in the 0-75' lakeshore setback. The building <br /> inspector has determined that the existing wall is in poor condition and needs to be replaced. <br /> The Applicant is proposing to remove a portion of the lakeside deck and a patio to decrease <br /> hardcover. <br /> Staff recommends approval of the application. <br /> Martineau stated that the concrete patio was installed in violation to the ordinance at the time the <br /> driveway was replaced. Martineau stated the patio has already been removed, and the proposed <br /> addition is in an effort to eliminate the gutters and reduce the water runoff to the basement. <br /> Martineau stated the basement has been drain tiled in an effort to reduce water in the basement, <br /> noting that he has experienced water problems in his basement ever since the property was <br /> purchased. <br /> Martineau remarked this addition has been discussed with the neighbors who are not in disagreement <br /> with the proposal. <br /> • Chair Smith inquired whether there were any public comments concerning this application. <br /> Mr. Callahan, 2545 North Shore Drive, stated he is agreeable to the changes as it would not affect <br /> their property. <br /> Schroeder noted the overall hardcover will decrease on this property. <br /> Lindquist inquired when the patio was installed. <br /> Martineau stated it was installed around the time the driveway was replaced. <br /> Lindquist noted the patio was not included in the hardcover numbers. <br /> Stoddard moved, McMillan seconded,to approve Application #2437, 2565 North Shore <br /> Drive, allowing the construction of a 3' by 13' addition to the residence within the 0-75' <br /> setback, and granting of a variance to the average lakeshore setback and a variance to <br /> the allowed hardcover in the 0-75' lakeshore setback.
