Uses that are <br />grandfathered in will die with that business owner upon death or retirement. Lindquist <br />agreed that it should not be allowed to be turned over to another person. <br />Gaffron asked that if the home occupation is not on the list and is a non - conforming use, <br />should it go with the property. He suggested this regulation be tightened. <br />Smith questioned afffecting the livelihood or assets of a business. Schroeder said an <br />argument could be made if the business was sold to another person. <br />Van Zomeren cited an example of a home occupation license. It includes a compliance <br />deadline, hours of operation, number of clients, and shipment and delivery. A use can be <br />• lawful non - conforming until such date and then become unlawful non - conforming. <br />Schroeder noted the need to have "teeth" in the ordinance. <br />Schroeder asked how many complaints are received on home occupations. Gaffron said <br />he receives a few a year but gets many calls on starting businesses. Schroeder noted <br />many businesses are started without licensing.
