July 21,k998
Mr.Lyle Oman
CITY OF ORONO
(Hand Delivered)
Dear Mr. Oman:
As per our conversation, the following is a list of code irregularities observed at 125 Tmff'ula Trail,Orono,MN:
,✓*Front stoop and stairway exceeds 8"max requirement
✓*Front stoop and nearby grade does not allow water to run away from the house. Front stoop also has
major cracking, along with foundation wall below and brick column above.
✓*Lack of seal around patio doors, some windows, front entry and service doors
(see attached letters from window and door manufacturer's rep which
includes improper installation of patio doors, thus voiding our warranty)
"Mound septic system does not meet code requirements of absorption width and is certainly -
non-conforming at this time.
V4Resealing joints with tar strips at manhole riser of septic pump tank, has not been done to date
as indicated in Steve Weckman's letter of 4-16-98. We also question the float level of the pump
and the depth of the tank.
"Class B Flew is apparently in code violation because of expansion and contraction
noises transmitted. It should be investigated further.
'/*The air conditioning condensing unit does not meet requirements as far as height clearance
of 6'6"as per 1991 Uniform Mechanical Code Sec. 1202.
VI(Roof vents are clogged with insulation from last summer's storm incident. The builder had
insulation sprayed into the attic space before the soffit vents were on. When the high winds
came, they blew the insulation around the neighborhood and apparently blew up into the
the roof vents. All roof and soffit vents, along with air space above soffits should be
be checked at this time for proper ventilation.
'*Lack of seal(for air leakage)around plumbing vent pipes leading into attic
may be source of knocking pipes
$'/*We are questioning the ability of the duct work to move the quantity of air flow
as indicated in the heat loss calculations. More information to follow.
