Storage Facility for Big Island <br />Edwards asked for guidance and direction on whether or not to purchase and place a <br />storage container at Big Island Park in order to provide onsite storage of a <br />lawnmower and other park maintenance tools. <br />Council Member Wendy Dankey inquired about what the City currently does for <br />mowing at Big Island? <br />Edwards mentioned Public Works has been mowing the island 1-3 times per year. <br />There was a Big Island Committee had been formed in 2017 and the committee has <br />expressed desire for an increase in mowing to once a month or possibly every two <br />weeks. Edwards mentioned a commercial size mower is currently being used for <br />mowing and that be the mower acquires barge rides to and from the site. Edwards <br />provided cost options in the event the City chooses to increase the mowing on Big <br />Island. One option is the city could purchase a cargo container, contract a barge to <br />get the container to the island and then use the container to store the mower and <br />other park maintenance tools. The other option is that the mower be transported by <br />barge every other week to and from the island every season. <br />Dankey mentioned that it is a functional and efficient idea to purchase a container <br />and keep in on the island. <br />Council member Victoria Seals mentioned that a 10 foot container is one of the <br />better options for storage and that it should be brought to the Council meeting for a <br />vote. <br />Walsh noted that the Big Island storage container should be added to agenda for the <br />Council meeting. <br />3. Purchase of Fire Truck for Long Lake Fire Department <br />Long Lake Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief, John Hall gave a presentation regarding <br />the 2017 Fire Truck Replacement for the Long Lake Fire Department. The fire department <br />plans on replacing engine 12 and presented at the Work Session as a courtesy to let the City <br />Council and the Fire Department is looking to move forward with the purchase. <br />The work session ended at 6:18 p.m. <br />ATTEST <br />Anna Carlson, City Clerk Dennis Walsh, Mayor <br />
