Edwards Agenda Presentation <br />Public Works Director/City Engineer Section: <br />1. Purpose. The purpose of this action item is to gain council support of a proposed Eagle Scout Project <br />at City Hall. <br />Background. Boy Scout John Ellis is proposing to build and install three flag retirement boxes as his <br />Eagle Scout service project. Two of them are for the American Legion in Maple plain and the third <br />location would be Orono City hall. A flag Retirement box is a place for people to bring their American <br />flags that are no longer serviceable. Boy Scout Troop 206 will then collect the flags and dispose of them <br />in the proper manner. <br />2. Project Scope. Installation of one flag retirement box at City Hall. <br />3. Funding. This project will be funded by the American Legion and Boy Scout fund raising. <br />4. Staff Recommendation. I recommend that the council approve the proposal of a flag retirement box <br />at city hall. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion to authorized Boy Scout John Ellis to complete his Eagle Scout project with the construction and <br />installation of a flag retirement box at City Hall. <br />Exhibits <br />Exhibit A.
