AGENDAITEM <br />Item No.: 13 <br />Date: June 26, 2017 <br />Item Description: Approval of Golf Course Planning Proposal <br />Presenter: Adam T. Edwards Agenda Public Works Director/ <br />Public Works Director/City Engineer Section: City Engineer's Report <br />1. Purpose. The purpose of this action item is to gain approval to proceed with preparation of a Golf <br />Course planning document to guide future capital improvements at the Orono Golf Course. <br />2. Background. Since taking over oversight of the Golf Course, the Park Commission has been <br />interested in developing a plan of capital improvements at the Golf Course for both golf related and other <br />recreational opportunities. In particular, the Commission is interested in opportunities to increase <br />revenues such as: gathering areas; an outdoor deck; as well as non -golf activities such as sledding, tubing <br />and a trail system. <br />3. Project Scope. Develop a comprehensive plan for the golf course focused on new public amenities. <br />Plan will include a site map and programming level estimates. <br />4. Cost. The City received two quotes. Listed below. The lowest quote from a qualified contractor was <br />from Bolton and Menk for $5800. <br />Contractor <br />Qu te <br />Bolton and Menk <br />$5800 <br />SRF <br />$7625 <br />5. Funding. This project will be funded through the Park Enterprise Fund. The Park Enterprise fund <br />has an estimated EOY17 balance of $618,540. <br />6. Staff Recommendation. I recommend that the council accept Bolton and Menk proposal to <br />complete a concept plan for the Golf Course. This plan would then be used to develop and refine the golf <br />course Capital Improvement Plan. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion to accept Bolton and Menk proposal to complete a concept plan for the Golf Course for a fee not <br />to exceed $5800. <br />Exhibits <br />A.
