From: Randi
To: Denise Leskinen (deniseleskinen(ftmail.corn); Kevin Landgraver (kiandaraver(Ebarnail.corn); Bruce Lemke
(bruce(ftlantscal2einc.corn); oIsoncI16(&arnai1.corn; Loren Schoenzeit (Iorens(s3dlakexomj; Jon Schwinale
(ionschwing(c0aol.corn); ibthiesse(bhotrnailxorn; Jeremy Barnhar
Subject: 17-3925
Date: Monday, May 01, 2017 7:41:20 AM
Thank you for tabling this important item (17-3 925).
Although I believe this issue belongs as part of the comprehensive plan, if the small lot issue is not going to be part
of the comp plan process, then we ask that it has its own special analysis and follow steps similar to those outlined
below.
*identify the neighborhood ... what would be possible street boundaries for the changes (see attachment of sewered
area)
*what are the size of lots and what is the quantity of certain sizes as identified in our present zoning code
*what would be the impact if the 2 acre zone went down to one acre or even a half acre
*notify the neighborhood and have a public hearing with plenty of time/opportunity to receive public input on the
report
*review the comments and make suggestions based on a thorough review.
We would like all our neighbors to have the opportunity to see all the information and have a thorough and public
discussion in which all the results have been studied. This affects us one way and may impact our neighbors another
way, we are not asking about serving only our self -interests but desire to have a comprehensive discussion about the
zoning in our neighborhood. The hope is finding a solution all can live with, one that all have been made aware of,
and all be able to comment on.
This newly introduced idea of "spot zoning" is a huge change from the Orono's past zoning principals and is
certainly not coming from the citizens in our neighborhood.
Be transparent, seek public input and put the citizens first!
Steve and Randi Carlson
1185 Arbor Street
952-475-0107
