Edwards Agenda Public Works/ City <br />Public Works Director/City Engineer Section: Engineer Report <br />1. Purpose. The purpose of the agenda item is to gain Council approval to appoint a new <br />Maintenance Worker within Public Works. <br />2. Background. The Public Works Department has six full time maintenance worker positions. <br />The maintenance worker positions are critical to meet current service needs and is essential to <br />City operations. One position is currently unfilled. <br />3. Recruitment. The selection process for the vacant position has been completed. The <br />process involved application screening, an interview panel and reference checking. <br />4. Recommended Candidate. The top candidate is Mr. Brian Clark. Brian has 20 years of <br />experience running his own sewer and water service installation company. In addition Brian has <br />a keen understanding of customer service, possesses a positive attitude and willingness to learn <br />new things. I believe he will be an asset to the Public Works Department and City. <br />Recommended Compensation. I recommended that Mr. Clark be appointed to the position <br />of Public Works Maintenance Worker effective June 26th, 2016. <br />a. Salary. Starting salary of $24.20/hour (Grade 7, Step 2) <br />b. Vacation.
