AGENDA ITEM <br />Item No.: 17 <br />Date: April 9, 2018 <br />Item Description: Local 49 Collective Bargaining Agreement Memorandum of <br />Understanding <br />Presenter: Dustin Rief, Agenda Consent Agenda <br />City Administrator Section: <br />1. Purpose. The purpose of the this action is to adopt a Memorandum of Agreement outlining an <br />exception to the employee scheduling and overtime rules as defined and subject to the bargaining <br />agreement between the City of Orono and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 49 for <br />the Parks and Golf Course Supervisor Position. <br />2. Background. The nature of the Parks and Golf Course Supervisor position and duties requires <br />additional schedule flexibility. The Park and Golf course Supervisor position was created and pulled into <br />the bargaining unit after the majority of the CBA was developed. The CBA is focused on the Public <br />Works Maintenance Worker and Public Works Supervisor position work schedule and was not written <br />with the Parks Supervisor's schedule in mind. The Parks and particularly the Golf Course area 7 day <br />week operations during the summer season and the Parks supervisor has requested the flexibility to adjust <br />his 40 hour work week into the weekends in order to have a presence at the parks and supervise the <br />seasonal staff that is working on those days. <br />3. Staff Recommendation.
