The purpose of this action item is to gain approval to replace a police vehicle #230. Background. Squad #230 was a 2013 Chevy Tahoe. On February 9, 2018 squad #230 was being used to deliver evidence to the BCA in St. Paul. A vehicle being pursued by MN State Patrol crossed over the center lane and struck #230. Insurance determined the vehicle as a total loss. League of MN Cities Insurance trust settled on the 2013 Chevy Tahoe for $19,875. The police department would like to replace #230 with a 2018 Dodge Durango Special Service AWD. Cost for the 2018 Durango is $26,062. Insurance will also cover the cost of graphics, tear down of #230 and the new equipment and building of the 2018 Dodge Durango. Insurance to pay a total of 27,624.28. Cost difference between the settlement of $19,875 for #230 and $26,062 for the 2018 Durango is $6,187. Cost. The City is using the state contracted pricing for the purchasing of this vehicle. Dodge of Burnsville will be used for the purchasing of this vehicle. Dealership Make Model Quote Dodge of Burnsville Dodge Durango $26,062.00 *plus tax, registration and other miscellaneous fees Funding. This purchase ($6,187) will be funded through the Automotive Equipment line of the police budget. Staff Recommendation. I recommend the replacement of #230 with a 2018 Dodge Durango.
