CITY OF ORONO <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING CONTINUATION OF CDBG FUNDING OF <br />WESTERN COMMUNITIES ACTION NETWORK (WeCAN) <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono has supported services for its residents given by WeCAN, a <br />community based human service organization dedicated to helping low-income people achieve <br />greater self -efficiency and family stability; and <br />WHERAS, these services include emergency assistance for housing stability, family, support <br />services, Meals on Wheels, a mobile food shelf, employment support, public assistance intake <br />services and other resources. <br />NOW, THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Orono recommends to the <br />Consolidated Pool Selection Committee that Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) <br />funding of Western Communities Action Network (WeCAN) be continued. <br />Adopted by the Orono City Council the 8' day of January, 2018. <br />Mayor, Dennis Walsh <br />ATTEST: <br />City Clerk, Anna Carlson <br />
