AGENDA ITEM <br />Item No. 12 Date: January 8, 2018 <br />Item Description: Western Communities Action Network (WeCAN) Request <br />for CDBG Support - Resolution <br />Presenter: Dustin Rief, City Administrator Agenda City Administrator's <br />Section: Report <br />Purpose. Western Communities Action Network (WeCAN) is requesting a letter of support <br />and/or Resolution from the City for the CDBG grant application they will be submitting. <br />WeCAN serves individuals and families in need in western Hennepin County. They are a <br />community nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide support services to empower and <br />equip individuals and families to reach stability and self-sufficiency. Executive Director, <br />Christie Larson, provided the following 2017 statistics in Orono: <br />Unduplicated households served — 11 <br />Unduplicated individuals served — 13 <br />Total number of services provided (emergency assistance, family support, Meals on Wheels, <br />Mobile Market) - 124 <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Consider a motion to approve sending the attached letter of support for the CDBG and <br />Resolution for the grant application being submitted by the Western Communities Action <br />Network. <br />Exhibits <br />A.
