Edwards, PE Agenda Consent Agenda <br />City Engineer/Director of Public Works Section: <br />1. Purpose. The purpose of this action item is to gain approval to proceed with the 2018 Stormwater <br />improvement projects and accept the proposal from Bolton and Menk (BMI) for engineering support. <br />2. Background. Each year the public works department works to repair and upgrade the City's <br />stormwater infrastructure. Inspections in 2017 identified a number of structures for repair or replacement. <br />Project Scope. Replace, repair or install new stormwater structures as listed below: <br />a. Carman Road — Replace storm sewer outlet <br />b. Orono Orchard Road — Replace storm sewer <br />c. Farview Lane — Replace multiple culverts and stabilize ravine <br />d. Turnham Road — Replace inlet and storm sewer outlet <br />e. Chevy Chase Drive — Replace culvert <br />f. North Arm Drive — Install drop structure on culvert and stabilize ravine <br />g. Fagerness Point Road — Replace inlet and storm sewer outlet <br />h. Park Lane — Install inlets and storm sewer <br />i. Casco Cove — Replace inlet and storm sewer outlet <br />j. Casco Circle — Replace inlet and storm sewer <br />k. Watertown Road — Install curb and gutter <br />4. Cost. BMI provided an estimate not to exceed $42,000 to perform engineering for the projects. <br />5. Funding. This project will be funded through the Stormwater Enterprise Fund. The Capital <br />Improvement Plan (CIP) budgeted $209,989 for general storm sewer improvement projects for 2018. The <br />EOY 2018 Fund balance is projected to be $1,410,101. <br />6. Staff Recommendation. I recommend that council accept the proposal from BMI and authorize staff <br />to being working begin the planning of the 2018 stormwater projects. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion to accept the proposal from BMI for an amount not to exceed $42,000 for Stormwater engineering <br />and authorize staff to being working begin the planning of the 2018 Stormwater projects. <br />Exhibits <br />Exhibit A.
