MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />Monday, January 28, 2019 <br />7:00 o’clock p.m. <br />_____________________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br /> <br />Page 2 of 2 <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/CITY ENGINEER REPORT <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />MAYOR/COUNCIL REPORT <br /> <br />Johnson reported he recently biked out to Big Island on his fat bike and that he noticed some of the posts <br />have been bent from the movement of the ice. Johnson indicated he will send a picture of it to Council <br />Member Seals. <br /> <br />Johnson congratulated Council Member Printup and Mayor Walsh for doing a nice job on the polar <br />plunge, noting that the video does not reflect the five degrees of air temperature. <br /> <br />Crosby congratulated Mayor Walsh and Council Member Printup for doing the polar plunge. <br /> <br />Chief Farniok displayed pictures from the polar plunge event and noted the Police Department raised <br />$4,000 for the Special Olympics. <br /> <br />CITY ADMINISTRATOR REPORT <br /> <br />Rief stated given the extremely cold weather, Orono City Staff will be allowed to work from home the <br />next couple of days, but that he and Public Works Director Adam Edwards will be manning the office. <br />Rief noted Hennepin County has issued a no travel warning. <br /> <br />Walsh noted Orono schools will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday given the extremely cold weather and <br />encouraged everyone to bundle up and to stay safe. <br /> <br />CITY ATTORNEY REPORT <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Crosby moved, Johnson seconded, to adjourn the Orono City Council meeting at 7:08 p.m. VOTE: <br />Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />______________________________________ _______________________________________ <br />Anna Carlson, City Clerk Dennis Walsh, Mayor <br /> <br />
