Christine Mattson
From: Doug Mensing [dougm@appliedeco.com]
Sent: Tuesday, December 02, 2014 3:54 PM
To: Melanie Curtis
Cc: Christine Mattson; 'Courtney Hall'; Matthew Lasch; Mielke, Daniel; Brad D. King
Subject: RE: MCWD WCA W14-37 Notice of Decision No-Loss - Nelson Restoration -Orono
Melanie,
Thanks for your reply. Regarding these outstanding items:
1) We plan to have the NPDES permit within a week or two. You have already received (and reviewed/approved?)
the draft SWPPP for the site (pgs 38-43 of your Item 06 143688.pdf file for the project). The draft SWPPP will be
finalized (i.e., Items VII a &b) within a week or two as well.
2) 1 had not heard about the Hennepin County approval requirement by the City before, but AES has coordinated
with them on earlier phases of this project(including traffic control). We will not be doing any grading in the
right-of-way(just the temporary construction access)and we are installing some native vegetation (we've
already discussed with them that we will keep woody plantings out of the cleared right-of-way). We will contact
them again and secure their approval.
3) The rain garden designs have been reviewed and approved by the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District, and I
was not aware that the City needed to review them. I will send you the designs in a separate e-mail.
Thanks again.
- Doug
Douglas M. Please see our engineer's comments below, specifically
noting the need for a NPDES permit and Hennepin County approval to work in the right-of-way. Please provide
evidence that these approvals have been taken care of prior to our issuance of the permit.
Also, please provide rain garden designs before construction.
1
