PART 1 DIVISION 7 - THERMAL AND MOISTURE PROTECTION <br /> Nelson Orangery 9415.00 <br /> October 3, 1994 2 <br /> 07210. INSULATION <br /> A. MATERIALS <br /> 1. Batt Insulation: Shall be Owens/Coming High-Performance Thermal Batt Insulation in <br /> sizes as shown on the drawings. <br /> 2. Below-Grade Rigid Insulation: Shall be Dow SM brand styrofoam in sizes shown on the <br /> drawings. <br /> 3. Above-Grade Rigid Insulation: Shall be"THERMAX"foil-faced polyurethane by Celotex <br /> in sizes as shown on the drawings. <br /> 4. Foam Sealant: Hilti CB 120 filler foam(available through Shelter Supply, Inc.854-4266) <br /> shall be used in all spaces between exterior window frames,door frames and framing,and <br /> other similar small gaps in framing. <br /> B. EXECUTION <br /> 1. Carefully fit insulation between framing members such as joists and studs and behind <br /> electrical receptacles and piping to form a completely insulated area. <br /> 2. Insulation with stapling flanges: Fit insulation between the studs with the stapling flanges <br /> stapled to either the face or side of the stud every 8 to12 inches to prevent gaps or <br /> "fishmouthing"of the vapor barrier. <br /> 3. Below-Grade Rigid Insulation: <br /> (a) Install insulation from the footing upwards. Adhere insulation to clean surfaces <br /> with its long edges horizontal, all edges tightly butted,and vertical joints <br /> staggered. <br /> 07220. CAULKING AND SEALANTS <br /> A. MATERIALS <br /> 1. Exterior 'ons: <br /> (a) Silicone caulking: Shall be G.E."Silpruf"weatherproofing sealant. Colors shall <br /> be selected by the Architect. To be used as an all-purpose sealant. All wood <br /> surfaces are to be primed, painted, and allowed to dry before applying caulk. <br /> (1) For other areas that need to be caulked where paint is not to be applied or <br /> that need to be caulked before paint is applied use Tremco Mono or <br /> equal solvent acrylic-based caulking. Substitutions must meet or exceed <br /> Fed. Spec.TT-S230a. Must be approved by Architect prior to purchase. <br /> (b) Polyurethane caulking: Shall be Vulkem 45 by Mameco. Colors shall be selected <br /> by the Architect. To be used for exterior horizontal joints between concrete <br /> slabs,pavement,walks,and masonry walls. <br /> (c) Install closed-cell ethafoam rods of appropriate sizes(compressed approx.30%) <br /> as a caulking joint backing material when joints are too deep to get the proper joint <br /> width/depth relationship. <br /> 2. Interior motions: <br /> (a) Latex caulk: Shall be Tren=or Sonnebome Acrylic latex caulk. <br /> B. EXECUTION <br /> 1. Clean substrate carefully, and prime I required before installation. <br /> 2. Apply sealant with a hand gun or pressure equipment. Tool all joints within the period <br /> indicated by the caulk manufacturer's recommendations. Tool all joints, neatly removing <br /> all excess caulk and cleaning off smeared areas on adjacent surfaces. Clean excess caulk <br /> or sealant off surfaces with solvents as recommended by the caulk or sealant <br /> manufacturer. <br /> 07600. FLASHING AND SHEET METAL <br /> A.
