PART 1 DIVISION 4 - MASONRY <br /> Nelson Orangery 9415.00 <br /> October 3, 1994 2 <br /> 2.2.1.3 All segments of concrete masonry wails which are to be reinforced with vertical steel <br /> reinforcing bars and grouted shall be consbWed of"open core"blocks. <br /> Examples of these blocks are No.801, No. 1201, and No. 1601 for 8", 12", and <br /> 16"respectively, as manufactured by Shiely Masonry Products Company or equal <br /> blocks. <br /> 2.3.2.1 Mortar to conform to ASTM C476 requirements(Type PL or PM required). <br /> PART 2.3-EXECUTION <br /> 2.3.1.5 Fm 3000 psi block prism strength. <br /> SECTION 3 - REINFORCEMENT & ACCESSORIES <br /> PART 3.2- PRODUCTS <br /> 3.2.1 All reinforcing bars shall conform to ASTM Grade 60, Fy-60,000 psi. <br /> 3.2.2 Horizontally reinforce all masonry walls with galvanized truss-type Durowall placed <br /> every third course. <br /> 3.2.3 Anchor bolts shall be 1/2 inch diameter steel bolts embedded at least 7 inches into <br /> concrete or reinforced masonry, or 15 inches into unreinforced grouted masonry, <br /> spaced no more than 4 feet apart. There shall be a minimum of 2 bolts per sill plate, <br /> with one bolt located within 12 inches of each end of each piece. <br /> PART 3.3- EXECUTION <br /> 3.3.2.7 All reinforcing shall be in place prior to grouting. Vertical bars shall be held in <br /> position at the top and at the bottom and in intervals not farther apart than 192 bar <br /> diameters. <br /> 04300. VENEER BRICK <br /> A. STANDARDS <br /> 1. All work and materials shall conform to the recommended practices of the Brick Institute of <br /> America for brick veneer construction. <br /> B. MATERIALS <br /> 1. Face Brick: To match existing(Chicago Common). <br /> 2. Mortar: To be Portland Cement Lime Mortar Type S,color to be approved by the <br /> Architect. <br /> 3. Membrane Flashing: To be"Wascoseal Type 20"(Wasco Products);"Nervastral HD 20" <br /> (Rubber and Plastics Compound Co.);or 20 mil"BFG Vinyl Water Barrier"(the B.F. <br /> Goodrich General Products Company). <br /> 4. Corrugated Metal Ties: Galvanized steel, minimum 7/8"wide,22 gauge and 7"long. <br /> 5. Expansion Joints: Use preformed 'pint fillers, expanded closed cell neoprene, Type S. <br /> C. EXECUTION <br /> 1. Lay brick masonry units with mortar of the types and strengths specified and as noted on <br /> the Drawings. Install each masonry unit with full mortar coverage on all adjoining ends, <br /> backs, and bearing surfaces as required to provide completely solid bed joints, head <br /> joints, and collar joints. Mortar shall not be slushed into joints between units after laying. <br /> Keep all voids clean and unobstructed of mortar or debris, induclng ungrouted masonry <br /> cavities, expansion joints,control joints,chases, and smear spaces. <br /> 2. Lay face brick units in a running bond with running stretchers in straight level courses, all <br /> vertical joints staggered, and cross-bonded at all comers,unless otherwise specifically <br />
