I I ) r <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING <br />HELD JULY 27, 1992 <br />MAYOR /COUNCIL REPORT <br />A) Butler requested Council be provided with a list of approved <br />solicitors in the future. She said she was unaware that the City <br />even issued the licenses. <br />Jabbour stated the license should also list the standards for <br />approval. <br />Moorse said he would review those standards. <br />B) Jabbour .reported that the LMCD's Task Force •has hired a <br />mediator to form a consensus from the meetings. He thanked the City <br />of Minnetrista and Scott Carlson for their support and thanked Dick <br />Cherba for the use of the plane. He explained that the summary <br />included in the report is based on old criteria, but the Task Force <br />has requested the summary be changed to be based on new criteria. <br />Jabbour explained that the DNR has counted 217 car /trailer parking <br />spaces, but based upon the DNR's old criteria there are actually <br />845.parking spaces available. He said the DNR has agreed to allow <br />10% credit for parking of vehicles with canoes, jet skis and other <br />recreational vehicles. He has suggested to the DNR to. reduce the <br />number of parking spaces by•145 to get to the 700 parking spaces <br />mentioned before. He added the Fisherman's Lobby has supported <br />Orono's position. He said he has been told by the DNR that this is <br />the last study they are doing on Lake Minnetonka, and feels Orono <br />is trying to stall the DNR. <br />ENGINEER'S REPORT <br />( * #7) PAY REQUEST #5 HIGHWAY 12 FRONTAGE ROAD — <br />SEWER, WATER & STREET IMPROVEMENT <br />It was moved by Butler, seconded by Callahan, to authorize the <br />request for payment to B & D Underground, Inc. for an amount of <br />$15,520.21 for trunk Highway 12 frontage road, sewer, water and <br />street improvements. Ayes 4, nays 0. <br />CITY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT <br />( #8) FUEL STORAGE BID AWARD <br />Moorse reviewed a memo on insurance and a memo _*from the Building <br />Official regarding above versus below ground tanks. He stated that <br />underground tanks are less expensive initially. -There does not <br />appear to be a great difference in future insurance costs for <br />underground tanks, but that is difficult to determine. <br />5 <br />
