MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING <br />HELD JULY 13, 1992 <br />ZONING FILE #1739 - CONT. <br />Nelson noted that the survey does not indicate the trees are to <br />remain. He stated that the area in front of the pool is actually <br />a Minnesota woodlands. He said that removal of the designated trees <br />will allow the other trees better lighting. He noted they intend <br />to replant bushes on the slope because it is very steep. <br />Mabusth reported that she and'the City Engineer inspected the site. <br />She stated the Engineer's report did not specifically address the <br />loss of trees as it would be minimal in light of-the adjacent heavy <br />treed area. She felt it was better to install quick growing <br />vegetation on the. newly installed slopes to prevent further <br />erosion. <br />Jabbour stated that Butler's concern was.preventative measures to <br />ensure the other.trees wouldn't.die. <br />Nelson noted that the trees provide privacy for the pool area, and <br />he is very concerned about maintaining the existing vegetation. <br />It was moved by Jabbour, seconded by Goetten; to adopt-Resolution <br />#3137 for Application #1739 for Albin Nelson, 500 Oxford Road, <br />approving a conditional use permit to allow filling in excess of <br />100 cubic yards. Ayes 3, nays 0. <br />( #5) #1741 RODNEY & SHARON BATZLAFF, <br />1115 BROWN ROAD SOUTH <br />VARIANCE - RESOLUTION #3138 <br />Mr. Batzlaff was present. <br />Moorse explained that this application involves a request for a <br />variance to construct a detached.garage to be placed in the front <br />setback area and within 23' of the right -of -way. <br />Mabusth noted that the applicants have agreed to move the shed in <br />the rear yard that encroached the north side of the property line. <br />It was moved by Goetten,' seconded by Mayor Peterson, to adopt <br />Resolution #3138 for Application #1741 for Rodney and Sharon <br />Batzlaff'of 1115 Brown Road South, approving variances to construct <br />a detached "garage in the front yard setback area. Ayes 3, nays 0. <br />
