MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING <br />HELD JANUARY 13, 1992 <br />DNR'S PROPOSAL FOR PUBLIC ACCESS ON MAXWELL BAY - CONT. <br />Debbie Breneman noted she is concerned about fire and police <br />protection. She noted in the past the DNR has had complaints <br />regarding the dredging at Gayle's Marina and the close of Boy <br />Scout Bridge. She stated the shoreline has seriously eroded. <br />She indicated the highway department is very concerned about the <br />traffic on County Road 51 and noted this is a high-accident area. <br />Paul Blomberg, 3180 North Shore Drive, noted the letter refers to <br />the acquisition of Gayle's Marina and asked what other properties <br />it would encompass. <br />Kimball reviewed the letter refers to Gayle's Marina and all <br />property between that and the residential property for sale. <br />Deb Halverson asked if the DNR knows the value of that land and <br />if they have the money to purchase the land and complete the <br />project. <br />Assussen noted they do not have the money to fund such a project. <br />( * #7) #1573 CAROL J. Staff has discussed alternatives with the <br />applicant to bring the garage into partial or total conformance.' <br />Gaffron suggested that Council determine which has a higher <br />priority, either the setback issue or the overage in hardcover, <br />or whether they are of equal priority, in deciding on the most <br />appropriate 6ption. <br />14 <br />
