Wetland Delineation Report
Stonegate Farm,Orono&Medina, MN
BES Project No. 2015-021
September 18,2015
Resource Maos Review
The National Wetlands Inventory(NWI) (Figure 4) identifies several wetlands on the site. In
general the NWI shows wetlands in about the same location and similar classification as
Wetlands A, B, C, D, E and G as delineated by BES. The DNR Protected Waters Inventory
map (Figure 5) does not identify any public waters wetlands on the site. The Hennepin County
Soils Survey(Figure 6) shows the site is predominantly mapped as Cordova loam (L23A)and
Angus loam (L37B)soil map units. The minor soil map units on the site include Canisteo loam
(L21A), Lester loam (L22C2), Glencoe loam (L24A) Le Sueur loam (L25A), Hamel, overwash-
Hamel complex(L36A), Angus-Kilkenny complex(L406), Lester-Kilkenny complex(L41 D2),
Houghton and Muskego soils (L50A), and Hamel-Glencoe complex(L132A). The Lester,
Lester-Kilkenny, Angus, and Angus-Kilkenny soil map units are listed as having 5% or less
inclusions of hydric soils. The Hamel-Overwash Hamel, Hamel-Glencoe, and Cordova soil map
units are listed as having 45%, 80% and 95% hydric soils respectively. The Canisteo, Glencoe,
and Houghton-Muskego soil map units are listed as having 100% hydric soils.
Wetland Classification
BES' classification of the wetlands is based on observations of the site and is include in Table 1
below.
Table 1. Summary of Wetland Characteristics
Basin Class Circ. 39 Isolated Comments
T e Y/N
Wetland A PEMCd, 3 N Wetland A is a large shallow marsh in the
Shallow Marsh south part of the site. The basin outlets to
small stream that flows to the west of the
site.
Wetland B PEMC 3 Y Wetland B is a small isolated cattail basin
Shallow Marsh along the east edge of the site. The basin
has been farmed on occasion in the past.
Wetland C PEMC 3 Y Wetland C is a small isolated cattail basin
Shallow Marsh in the woods along the northeast edge of
the site
Wetland D PF01 C 7 Y Wetland D is a small isolated basin in the
Seasonally woods along the northeast edge of the
Flooded Basin site. The tree canopy covers most of the
basin which has less emergent vegetation
than Wetland C.
7
