The footing required to support the existing main floor, the new second floor, and a roof <br /> system is 16" wide. Common construction practice is to use a minimum 16" wide <br /> footing, therefore it is my opinion that the existing footing, although not visible, is <br /> adequate to support the loads noted above. <br /> Our involvement in the design of this structure is limited�to the individual members <br /> addressed and specified in this report.
