This includes a floor live load of 40 psf, a
floor dead load of 15 psf, a roof snow load of 35 psf, a roof dead load of 20 psf, a soil
bearing pressure of 45 psf/ft of depth, and an assumed allowable soil bearing of 2000 psf.
The existing stud wall consists of 2x4 construction grade studs at 16" o.c. The stud wall
can support a new second floor with a maximum clear span of 24'-0" and a roof system
with a maximum span of 24'-0". Any point loads from girders, headers, etc have not
been analyzed and must be designed by others.
The existing foundation wall consists of 12" un-grouted masonry with a height of 7'-2".
The existing foundation can support the vertical and horizontal loads noted above
provided a new steel angle is installed at the top of the foundation wall as shown on the
enclosed details on pages 3 — 4 of 4 of this report. The exterior grade must also be
changed so that the grade slopes away from the residence and is not within 12" of the top
of the foundation.
