Resolution supporting the Minneapolis Twins Grant Request b. Resolution supporting the Hennepin County Sports Equipment Grant Request Purpose. The purpose of this item is to provide the Park Commission and update on the City's two endorsements of support to Orono Baseball Association (OBA) grant applications: a resolution of support for a Minneapolis Twins Grant to repair the Bederwood baseball field fencing and dugouts; and a resolution of support for a Hennepin County Sports Equipment Grant. 2. Background. The OBA is applying for two grants to improve athletic facilities that impact the City of Orono. The grant applications require endorsement from the City. a. Minneapolis Twins Fields for Kids Grant (See Exhibit A). OBA is applying for a $6,000 grant to be matched with $6,000 from OBA and the City of Orono. The project would repair the fences at the Bederwood Park Baseball Field and make repairs to the Lee Carlson dugouts. b. Hennepin County Grant. (See Exhibit B). OBA is applying for a —$10,000 to procure field maintenance equipment. The grant requires non-profit applicants to partner with e local government agency to act as the fiduciary agent. 3. City Participation. a. Minneapolis Twins Fields for Kids Grant. The City will contribute $2,000 of the matching funds to pay for the repairs to the Bederwood baseball field fence. b. Hennepin County Grant. The City would act as the fiscal agent for the grant. As the fiscal agent for the award, the city will be responsible to disburse the funds, and ensure the funds are used for the equipment listed on the grant. 4. Funding. Funding for the City Cost Share for the Bederwood Baseball field fence project would come from the Parks Fund. Park Commission Action Requested: Information only. No action required.
