CMP Part 4D. Public Services Plan <br /> 4. Orono will rely on technical support from other agencies including the 1lcnnepin <br /> County Sheriffs Office. <br /> 5. Orono will embrace the "Community Oriented Policing" concept. <br /> 6. The Orono Police Reserve program will continue. <br /> 7. Orono expects to continue contract services with adjoining municipalities. <br /> Police Service Plans <br /> Orono intends to continue operation of the Orono Police Department and provide contract <br /> services to adjacent municipalities consistent with their desires. The size and abilities of <br /> the Department will be consistent with and dependent upon the land use type and density <br /> within the Department's jurisdiction. Police department funding, including contract service <br /> costs, will be based upon the level of service desired. <br /> FIRE SERVICES <br /> Fire protection services in Orono are contracted with the Long Lake Fire Department. <br /> Fire Service Goals <br /> 1. To encourage fire prevention practices. <br /> 2. To provide fire protection and fire suppression services. <br /> 3. To provide reasonable levels of total fire services within the financial capabilities <br /> of the City and its citizens. <br /> Fire Service Policies <br /> In order to achieve reasonable levels of fire protection for Orono citizens,the City expects <br /> to provide and administer fire services according to the following policies: <br /> 1. Fire prevention is the first step toward reduction in fire loss damages. The <br /> City has adopted and will enforce the State Fire Code(which incorporates the <br /> provisions of the National Fire Protection Association Code). <br /> 2 A basic level of fire protection services will be provided consistent with land <br /> use type and density. Urban areas will be expected to require more frequent fire <br /> services and more extensive fire services than that necessary in rural areas. Fire <br /> protection levels will be expected to be higher where municipal water is available <br /> than where water supplies must be transported to the scene. <br /> 3. Each of the contracting fire departments will be expected to provide all <br /> necessary administration, equipment and manpower to provide adequate <br /> service within their district.
