Navarre Fire Station Plumbing Plan No. 033959 Page 2 June 26, 2003 4. A full-size vent stack(3-inch minimum)must be provided for every building(see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2520, subpart 1). This stack must be continuous in size from its base to its ternunal and should be the most remote stack from the location where the building drain leaves the building. The flammable waste interceptor vent does not meet this requirement due to the water seal in the interceptor. 5. The installation of reduced pressure zone bacl�low preventers is pernutted only when periodic testing is done by a trained backflow preventer tester acceptable to the administrative authority. Testing intervals shall not exceed one year, and records must be kept. All devices must be tested after initial installation to assure that debris from the piping iiistallatio�has not interfered with the functioning of the device. The devices shall be overhauled at least once every five years. The installation of new backflow preventers must be at least 12 inches,but not more than 6 feet above the finished floor or ground level. 6. Solvent weld joints in PVC and CPVC pipe must include use of a primer which is of contrasting color to the pipe and cement (see Minnesota Rules,part 4715.0810, subpart 2). 7. Type K copper pipe used for water service must be soft temper(see Minnesota Rules,parts 4715.0510,D). 8. The plumbing system shall be tested in accordance with Minnesota Rules,part 47152820. NOTE(S): l. The scope of this project consists of the construction of a new building. The plumbing installation includes restrooms, showers,counter sinks,and potable water connections to a pressure washer and truck fill equipment. 2. This facility is served by new municipal water and sewer service connections. Authorization for construction in accordance with the approved plans may be withdrawn if construction is not undertaken within a period of two years. The fact that the plans have been approved does not necessarily mean that recommendations or requirements for change will not be made at some later time when changed conditions, additional information, or advanced knowledge make improvements necessary.
