O'Reilly Auto Parts
Plumbing
Plan No. PLB 1 1 04-000 1 5
Page 2
April 15,2011
3. The vent pipe opening from a soil or waste pipe may not be below the weir of the trap. The fixture drain
lines must connect to the vertical sanitary drain with a tee connection rather than a wye connection as
indicated in the waste and vent riser diagrams(see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2620, subpart 2).
4. It is recommended that a cleanout be provided where new waste and vent piping connects with existing
plumbing to facilitate required testing of the new installation.
5. The distance between cleanouts in horizontal piping shall not exceed 50 feet for pipe 3 inches or less in size,
or not over 100 feet for pipe 4 inches and greater in size(see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.1010).
6. Shutoff valves shall be installed which permit the water supply to all equipment in each separate room or to
each individual fixture to be shut off without interference with the water supply to any other room or
portion of the building(see Minnesota Rules,part 4715.1800,subpart 6).
7. Tankless-and instantaneous-type water heaters require pressure relief valves only. Instantaneous electric
water heaters that have Underwriters Laboratory approval for use without a relief valve, and that have space
containing the heating element of less than 3 inches in diameter, may be installed without a pressure relief
valve(see Minnesota Rules,part 4715.2230).
8. The revised plans indicate that a pressure vacuum breaker will be provided on the potable water supply to
the Speakman Model No. SEF-9000 eye wash. Please note that the pressure vacuum breaker must be
installed at least 12 inches above the spill line and no possibility of back pressure is permitted(see
Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2100). Since a hose will be installed, the pressure vacuum breaker must be
installed above the highest point that the hose will be located when in use.
9. Materials used for the plumbing system shall comply with the standards set forth in the Minnesota
Plumbing Code(see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0420). Verify that the following pipe material requirements
are met:
a. Materials used for drain, waste, and vent systems must comply with Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0570
through part 4715.0600.
b. Materials used for water distribution piping must comply with Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0520.
10. The water distribution system shall be disinfected in accordance with Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2250.
11. The plumbing system shall be tested in accordance with Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2820.
NOTES:
1. The scope of this project consists of the tenant space remodel of an auto parts store. T'he plumbing includes
back-to-back restrooms,a mop sink,a drinking fountain, and an eye wash. The fixtures connect to the
existing sanitary sewer and to the existing water distribution system.
2. This facility is served by existing municipal sewer and existing municipal water services.
