PART2-PRODUCTS <br /> 2.1 MATERIALS,GENERAL <br /> A. Lumber Standards: Comply with PS 20 "American Softwood Lumber Standard" for lumber and <br /> with applicable grading rules of inspection agencies certified by American Lumber Standards Committee <br /> Board of Review. <br /> B. Plywood Standards: Comply with PS 1 "U.S.Product Standard for Construction and Industrial <br /> Plywood"for plywood and,for products not manufactured under PS 1,with APA PRP-108. <br /> 2.2 FABRICATION <br /> A. Wood Moisture Content: Comply with requirements of specified inspection agencies and <br /> manufacturer's recommendations for moisture content of finish carpentry in relation to relative humidity <br /> conditions existing during time of fabrication and in installation areas. Provide finish carpentry with <br /> moisture content that is compatible with Project requirements. <br /> B. Fabricate fmish carpentry to dimensions,profiles and details indicated. Ease edges to radius <br /> indicated for the following: <br /> 1. Lumber less than 1 inch in nominal thickness: 1/16 inch. <br /> 2. Lumber 1 inch or more in nominal thickness: 1/8 inch. <br /> PART 3-EXECUTION <br /> 3.1 EXAA�IINATION <br /> A. Examine substrates for compliance with requirements for installation tolerances and other <br /> conditions affecting installation and performance of finish carpentry. Do not proceed with installation <br /> until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. <br /> 3.2 PREPARATION <br /> A. Clean substrates of projections and substances detrimental to applicarion. <br /> B. Condition fmish carpentry to average prevailing humidity conditions in installation azeas before <br /> installation for a minimum of 24 hours unless longer conditioning recommended by manufacturer. <br /> C. Backprime lumber for painted finish exposed on the exterior. Comply with requirements for <br /> surface preparation and application in Section"Painting." <br /> 3.3 INSTALLATION,GENERAL <br /> A. Do not use fmish carpentry materials that are u.nsound,warped,bowed,twisted,improperly <br /> treated or finished,not adequately seasoned,or too small to fabricate with proper jointing airangements. <br /> 1. Do not use manufactured units with defective surfaces,sizes,or pattems. <br /> B. Install finish carpentry plumb,level,true,and aligned with adjacent materials. Use concealed <br /> shims where required for alignmen� <br /> 1. Scribe and cut finish cazpentry to fit adjoining work.Refinish and seal cuts as <br /> Page 2 of 4 <br />
