WOOD SLIDING GLASS DOORS <br /> SECTION 08312 <br /> THIS SECTION USES THE TERM ARCHITECT. <br /> PART 1-GENERAL <br /> 1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS <br /> A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary <br /> Conditions and Division 1 Specification Sections,apply to this Section. <br /> 1.2 SUNIlVIARY <br /> A. This Section includes vinyl-clad wood sliding glass doors provided by the Owner and installed <br /> by the General Contractor. <br /> 1. Performance Grade: Provide wood sliding glass doors that comply with requirements of <br /> NWWDA I.S.3 for performance grade 20. <br /> 2. Glazing requirements for wood sliding glass doors,including those specified to be <br /> factory glazed,are specified in the Division 8 Section°Glazing." <br /> 1.3 SYSTEM PERFORMANCE REQUIIZEMENTS <br /> A. Standards: Performance requirements for operating force,structural performance,air infiltration, <br /> and water penetration for wood sliding glass doors are those specified in NWWDA I.S.3 "Wood Sliding <br /> Patio Doors." <br /> B. Testing: Manufacturer's stock units of each grade of required wood sliding glass door shall have <br /> been tested by a recognized testing agency,according to ASTM E 330 for structural performance,ASTM <br /> E 283 for air infiltration,and ASTM E 547 for water penetration. Test samples shall camply with <br /> requirements in NWWDA I.S.3 for test sample sizes and methods. <br /> C. Performance Requirements(Grade 40 Sliding Glass Doors): Each wood sliding glass door unit <br /> shall comply with the following performance requirements: <br /> 1. Operating Force: Not more than 301b of force to begin motion,nor more than 15 Ib of <br /> force to sustain motion. <br /> 2. Air Infiltration: Not more than 0.25 cfin per sq.ft.of overall frame area at an inward test <br /> pressure of 1.571bf per sq.ft. <br /> 3. Water Penetration: No water penetration as defined in the test method at an inward test <br /> pressure of 4.431bf per sq.ft. <br /> 4. Structural Performance: No glass breakage,damage to hardware,or permanent <br /> deformation that would impair unit operation or cause residual deflection greater than <br /> 0.1 percent of the span at a positive(inward)and negative(outward)test pressure of <br /> 401bf per sq.ft. <br /> D. Forced-Enhy Resistance: Comply with requirements for Grade l O level of resistance to forced <br /> entry when tested according to the requirements of ASTM F 842. <br /> 1.4 SUBNIITTALS <br /> A.
