MINUTES OF THE j <br /> � � ORONO PLANI�TING CONIMISSION MEETING <br /> Monday,April 16,2007 — <br /> 6:00 o'clock p.m. <br /> ROLL <br /> The Orono Planning Commission met on the above-mentioned date with the following members <br /> _ present: Chair Ralph Kempf,Commissioners Tess Rice,Dick Kroeger,Kim Kang,and Alternate Janice <br /> Berg. Representing Staff were Planning Director Mike Gaffron,Planners Evelyn Turner and Melanie <br /> Curtis,and Recorder Jackie Young. City Council Member James Murphy and Mayor White were <br /> present. <br /> Commissioner Jaye Ann Zullo arrived at 7:16 p.m. <br /> Chair Kempf called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m., followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> 1. PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING OF MARCH 19,2007 <br /> Berg moved,Kang seconded,to approve the Planning Commission minutes of March 19,2007,as <br /> submitted. VOTE: Ayes 5,Nays 0. <br /> OLD BUSINESS . <br /> 2. #06-3225 DAVID CARLSON ON BEHALF OF 875 WBW,LLC,875 WAYZATA <br /> BOULEVARD WEST,REQiTEST REZOI�TING,6:07–6:45 P.M. <br /> Steve Johnston of Landform and David Carlson of WBW,LLC,were present. <br /> Gaffron stated the applicant is requesting approval for a nine unit Residential Planned Unit <br /> Development on this former New Horizons daycare site. The property is the subject of a ' <br /> Comprehensive Plan amendment to allow density of approximately 1.4 units per dry buildable acre, <br /> where the current d"ensity maximum is 0.5 units per acre. The property consists of 11.75 acres and 6.5 <br /> acres dry buildable. � <br /> This item was last reviewed by the Planning Commission in November 2006 and tabled pending <br /> l,Vietropolitan Council approval of the CMP amendment. The CMP amendment received City Council <br /> approval on August 28,2006,but it has been held up by the Metropolitan Council primarily due to <br /> concerns over Orono's recent development density. Staff is anticipating Metropolitan Council approval <br /> of the CMP amendment within the next few days.
