MINUTES OF THE <br /> ORONO PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING <br /> Tuesday,January 17,2006 <br /> 6:00 o'clock p.m. <br /> ROLL <br /> The Orono Planning Commission met on the above-mentioned date with the following members present: <br /> Acting Chair Cynthia Bremer, Commissioners Ralph Kempf, Travis Winkey, Roland Jurgens,and Jim <br /> Leslie. Representing Staff were Planning Director Mike Gaffron and Recorder Jackie Young. Council <br /> Member Jim White arrived at 6:48 p.m. <br /> Acting Chair Bremer called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. <br /> CONSENT <br /> 1. #06-3165 DENNIS BACKES,2940 FOX STREET,CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT,6:01 <br /> p.m.—6:02 p.m. <br /> Bremer moved,Leslie seconded,to recommend approval of Application#06-3165,Dennis Backes, <br /> 2940 Fox Street,granting of a Conditional Use Permit to permit installation of plumbing in an <br /> existing detached garage. VOTE: Ayes 5,Nays 0. <br /> 2. #06-3166 STEVEN R.JACOBSON,4185 SIXTH AVENUE NORTH,VARIANCE <br /> Bremer moved,Leslie seconded,to recommend approval of Application#06-3166, Steven R. <br /> Jacobson,4185 Sixth Avenue North,granting of a front yard setback variance and a rear yard <br /> setback variance to allow construction of an addition to the rear of the home. <br /> VOTE: Ayes 5,Nays 0. <br /> SCHEDULED PUBLIC HEARING <br /> 3. #06-3173 CITY OF ORONO INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT ZONING STANDARDS <br /> ORDINANCE AMENDMENT, 6:03 P.M. <br /> Steve Grittman and Mike Darium,Northwest Associated Consultants,were present. <br /> Grittman addressed the Planning Commission regarding the proposed amendment to the Industrial <br /> District standards and existing Zoning Code Sections 78-821 through 78-853. Grittman noted the latest <br /> revision before the Planning Commission does contain the comments received from the Planning <br /> Commission at work sessions held on January 4 and January 11, 2006. <br /> Grittman stated the first item covered under the ardinance amendment relates to a change from a detailed <br /> listing of permitted uses to a more general description of allowable activities.
