Box 159
Crystal Bay, MN 55323
RE: BUILDING & ZONING CODE ISSUES AT 1251 BRIAR STREET
Dear Ms. Roth &Mr. Quast:
On 09-24-99 the City of Orono issued permit#11916 to you to construct a new home on
the existing foundation at 1251 Briar Street in Orono. As of this date the project has not
had final inspections and an occupancy permit has not been issued. It has also come to
the City's attention that you have erected a fabric covered boat shelter on the property.
Therefore the City must require you to arrange an inspection to see if there are any code
issues to resolve on the house so that a certificate of occupancy can be granted. The City
requires building permits for structures built on property, however a fabric covered boat
shelter does not meet any building code requirements. Therefore, the boat shelter must
be removed from the property.
A deadline of August 29, 2005 has been established for removal of the boat shelter and
for arranging a final inspection on your house. If this deadline is not met, the City may
initiate legal action. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at my office.
Sincerely,

Lyle Oman
Building Official
rd
Telephone(952)249-4600 • Fax(952)249-4616
www.ci.orono.mn.us
