Gerhardson, Public Works Director <br />DATE:July 22, 1991 <br />SUBJECT: Disciplinary Action - Erik Bowman Temporary Parks Helper <br />On July 18, 1991 Erik Bowman, Temporary Parks Maintenance He’per <br />was assigned to mow the steep bank at the Navarre Parking Lot. <br />When Erik began employment in 1 990 he was instructed to mow the <br />bank with a hand mower only and not a riding mower. <br />On the above date Erik was mowing with a riding mower, lost <br />control of the mower and collided with a parked vehicle. <br />The damage to the parked vehicle is minimal but the preliminary <br />estimate of damage to the riding mower is in excess of $1,000.00. <br />I have discussed the matter with Erik and am not satisfied with <br />his reasons for not following the instructions given him prior to <br />the accident. <br />It is my recommendation to suspend Erik for five working days <br />without pay and to monitor his work habits more closely until his <br />termination in the fall to determine whether or not he would <br />return to that position in the spring of 1992.
