ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />MINUTES FOR JUNE 129, 1995 <br />• ROLL <br />The Council met on the above date with the following members present: Mayor Edward <br />Callahan, Jr., Council Members J. Diann Goetten, Gabriel Jabbour, Charles Kelley, and <br />JoEllen Hurr, who arrived at 8:10 p.m. Representing Staff were Acting City <br />Administrator John Gerhardson, City Attorney Tom Barrett, Building and Zoning <br />Administrator Jeanne Mabusth, Assistant Planning and Zoning Administrator Michael <br />Gaffron, City Engineer Glenn Cook, and Recorder Sherry Frost. Mayor Callahan called <br />the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br />(* #1) CONSENT AGENDA <br />Items #5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, and 16 were added to the Consent Agenda. <br />Goetten moved, Kelley seconded, to approve the Consent Agenda as amended. Ayes 4, <br />Nays 0. <br />( #2) INTERVIEW PARK COMIVIISSION APPLICANTS <br />The Council interviewed the following candidates for the one position open within the <br />Park Commission. It was noted to all candidates that further interviewing will be <br />conducted at the next Council meeting, and they will be notified of the filling of the <br />• opening after the interviews have been completed. Gerhardson noted that an applicant <br />who had applied to the Planning Commission had asked to change his request to the Park <br />Commission. This applicant will be interviewed along with one other at the next Council <br />meeting. <br />• <br />Each candidate was asked why they applied for the position, what contributions or <br />changes they would bring to the commission, whether they were aware of the <br />comprehensive management plan and the philosophy of the present commission, whether <br />they had attended any Park Commission meetings, and whether they had the time to <br />commit to such a position. The interviewees responses are as follows: <br />ROBERT W. LANGGUTH <br />Robert Langguth lives in the Chevy Chase area of Orono, has an engineering <br />background, and has served on the Wayzata Police Reserves. Langguth said he has the <br />time to get involved on the Park Commission as he is retired. In noting the urban <br />expansion to the western suburbs, Langguth said it is important to obtain all land <br />available now for future parks. He has not attended any park meetings. <br />1 <br />
