Christine Mattson =- -
From: Brett Eid m [BEidem@minneiaha eek.org]
Sent: Tuesda , September 30, 2014 10: 9 AM
To: Christi Mattson
Cc: Thoma Dietrich
Subject: 1098 Lo a Linda, Orono
Attachments: PP RG C e t. iver Design.pdf; photo 1.JPG; photo S.JPG
Hi Christine,
I recently had a meeting with the Tolliver's, who live at 1098 Loma Linda Ave. I have transitioned positions within the
District from our permitting department to our education department as our cost share specialist. This email I suppose
relates to both. The Tolliver's are having issues with runoff on their property, a large amount of which is coming from
the street. It is eroding the area just beyond the street in the SW corner of their property, and it appears that the runoff
is then draining to the boat launch just S of her property which I believe is city land.
They brought in a plan they had designed for them to mitigate the erosion from runoff from Metro Conservation
Services in 2010, which showed a pervious paver strip followed by a bioswale and then finally into a raingarden before
leaving their property. They were saying that the city did not allow them to install the project a few years ago because
the city saw pervious pavers still as a hard surface increase. Is this still true today?
We see benefits in their project and believe it would qualify for cost share funding next spring. We have already passed
the deadline for residential cost share funding this year. I would also be interested in have a discussion with the city
about the launch and see if there are any opportunities there to cost share on a project. It appears that gravel is needed
continuously to minimize gullying and wash outs at the landing. There could also be an opportunity for a project that
could minimize the erosion and sediment that is in such a close proximity to the lake.
Please let me know who I can talk to about these opportunities and what the city's regulation or stand on the projects
would be.
Thanks,
Brett Eidem Cost Share Program Specialist www.minnehahacreek.org
15320 Minnetonka Boulevard Minnetonka, MN 55345 Office: (952)641-4523
 MINNEHAHA REEK
WATSHEp IISTRIGT
autrtrSr wxeR,iler,uTx ai Ktr!
1
