� ` CITY OF ORONO <br /> � <br /> Regular Meeting of the Orono Council, 7: 03 P.M. <br /> ` February 28, 1977 <br /> The Orono Council met on the above date with <br /> the following members present: Mayor Van Nest, <br /> Councilmembers Butler, PSassengale, Paurus, and <br /> � Welsh. Also present: City Administrator Benson, <br /> , Building & Zoning Administrator Muhich, Assistant <br /> Building & Zoning Administrator Olson, City <br /> � Attorney Pdalkerson, and City Engineer Frank. <br /> • ' <br /> At 7:05 P.M. , Mayor Van Nest announced that this PUBLIC HEARING <br /> � was the time and place for the public hearing Ring Route <br /> concerning the Ring Route. Dick Benson, City <br /> � Administrator, presented the Public Hearing . <br /> Notice, the Affidavit of Publication, and the <br /> ` Certificate of Mailing. <br /> � Mayor Van Nest discussed the reasons the City <br /> � of Orono has held this second public hearing <br /> concerning the proposed Ring Route stating that <br /> � environmental protection of Lake P�innetonka <br /> • density, nutrients, and other pollutant controls <br /> coupled with the preservation of Lake Minnetonka <br /> � are, in part, reasons for considering an alternative <br /> to the current increased traffic on Hennepin County <br /> � #15. Pressures of urbanization, traffic funnelization <br /> creates urbanization. Increased traffic and future <br /> • �safety requirements might dictate 4-laning of County <br /> Road #15 and create environmental problems. Orono <br /> � is always searching for reasonable solutions to <br /> � the current traffic problem in the lake area and <br /> conclusions from Hennepin County and Orono' s <br /> � traffic studies are to r�ute excessive traffic <br /> north to State Highway_ #12 and Hennepin County - <br /> S Road #6. Mayor Van P7est continued by stating that � <br /> all residents in Orono, plus rZinnesota Highway <br /> 7 Department, Hennepin County Public Works__Department, . <br /> Mr. Kenneth Turnham, City of Independence, City <br /> � of Minnetrista, City of Minnetonka Beach, City <br /> � of Mound, City of Spring Park, and T.M.G. Corporation <br /> have received a notice of this hearing which states: <br /> i NOTICE is hereby given that the Orono Citv Council <br /> � will hold a second public hearing in the City <br /> Council Chambers on Monday, February 28 , 1977 at <br /> � 7: 00 P.AZ. to receive citizen input on the proposed <br /> . r�ute which is being considered at this time for <br /> a connecting link between the intersection of <br />, County Roads No. 19 and No. 84 and the intersection <br /> of County Road Pio. 6 and Watertown Road. <br />• <br /> �11 persons wishing to be heard will appear at <br /> ' `_his time. <br />� (Continued) <br />� <br /> i <br />
