Memorandum
To: City of Orono Permits Department
From: D. Delaney
Re: Land Alteration Permit - 3051 Farview Lane
Permit Recuest
Work to be completed: Homeowner obtained burning permit for trees that were
previously blown down on the property. Homeowner was unable to burn the trees and
had them hauled away. The upland area where trees were removed will be further
landscaped with sodding or seeding. A small area of black dirt and rock edging (less than
400 sq. ft. area) was landscaped as homeowner was not aware that an additional permit
was needed for this work. The work was stopped upon notice that a permit may be
needed from the City.
Area of the work is depicted on the attached drawing. The area is not within 75 feet of
shoreland. There are no significant slopes. Amount of black dirt is approximate 25 cyds
or less. Landowner intends to plant trees and add a small fire pit and picnic area.
Landowner was contacted by the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District regarding the
work. A meeting was held at the property on 8/30/04. The MCWC determined that no
wetland permit was required.
Landowner plans to complete maintenance on the existing gravel path to the dock on the
lake, to replace gravel embedded in the existing path. This is a safety issue for the
Landowner's family and their small children who might otherwise slip and fall.
Landowner understands that this work does not require a permit.
A $50 check is enclosed to cover the fee for the permit.
Thank you for your review of this matter. If there are questions, please contact the
landowner or Mr. Kaster at the phone numbers provided.
Enc. Site Map
cc: Mark Kaster, Dorsey& Whitney, LLP
(612-340-7815)
