3 <br />• MINUTES OF THE CANVASSING BOARD MEETING <br />HELD SEPTEMBER 14, 2000 AT 7:30 A.M. <br />ROLL <br />The Council met as the Canvassing Board on the above date and time in the Orono Council <br />Chambers. The following members were present: Mayor Jabbour, Council Members Richard Flint, <br />Charles Kelley, Barbara Peterson and Bob Sansevere. The following represented City staff: City <br />Administrator Ron Moorse and City Clerk Lin Vee. <br />Mayor Jabbour called the meeting to order at 7:32 a.m. <br />Copies of the attached results of the September 12 Primary Election were distributed. <br />Council Member Kelley moved, Council Member Peterson seconded, to certify the results of the <br />September 12, 2000 municipal election as follows: <br />QUESTION: <br />Consolidation of the Cities of Long Lake and Orono <br />• Should the Cities of Long Lake and Orono be combined into <br />one city effective January 1, 2001, in accordance with "Plan for <br />Merger and Implementation " dated May 25, 2000 which was <br />approved by the city councils of Long Lake and Orono and which <br />includes the adoption of a charter for the new city? <br />Yes receiving 1,487 votes <br />No receiving 349 votes <br />Vote: 5 Ayes, 0 nays. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />The Canvassing Board meeting adjourned at 7:34 a.m. <br />Gabrie Jabbour, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />Linda S.
