MINUTES OF THE <br /> ORONO PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING <br /> Wednesday,July 17,2002 <br /> 5:30 o'clock p.m. <br /> ROLL <br /> The Orono Planning Commission met on the above date with the following members present: <br /> Chair Sandra Smith, Commissioners David Rahn, Janice Berg, J. Mark Fritzler, Liz Hawn, and <br /> Jeanne Mabusth; The following City Staff were present: Planning Director Mike Gaffron, Zoning <br /> Administrator Paul Weinberger, City Administrator Ron Moorse, Public Service Director Greg <br /> Gappa, and recorder Kristi Anderson. City Planning Consultant Wally Case of DSU, Inc. was <br /> also present. <br /> Commissioner Cynthia Bremer and Zoning Administrator Bottenberg were absent. <br /> Chair Smith called the meeting to order at 5:30 P.M. in order to address two items tabled from <br /> the Monday night Planning Commission meeting. <br /> NEW BUSINESS (continued from July 15,2002) <br /> (#1) #02-2805 CARSON ERICKSON, 3415 EASTLAKE STREET,VARIANCES <br /> 5:30 p.m. - 5:43 p.m. <br /> Carson Erickson, Applicant, was present. <br /> Planning Director Gaffron stated that, as suggested during the Monday night Regular Planning <br /> Commission Meeting,the applicant revised his application to increase the setback to the street by <br /> decreasing side yard setbacks, maintaining the 50' setback from the house to the creek bank, and <br /> reducing the deck to approximately 300 s.f. He stated that the revised proposal accomplishes <br /> everything that had been asked of the client. <br /> Although the Applicant had no additional comments to make with regard to the proposal, he <br /> informed the Commission that his architect, Bruce Hellier, who presented on Monday night was <br /> admitted to the hospital with chest pains. Mr. Erickson indicated that Bruce was doing well and <br /> had tried to revise the proposal to meet the Commission's suggestions. <br /> Smith asked Mr. Erickson to relay best wishes for a speedy recovery to Mr. Hellier. <br /> There were no public comments. <br /> Smith reiterated that the requested variances include lot area, lot width, hardcover variance, front <br /> yard setback, side yards setback, and rear yard setbacks. <br /> Rahn suggested that the deck dimensions remain undetermined and that the applicant simply <br /> adhere to the 300 s.f. coverage. <br /> PAGE 1 OF 22 <br />
