MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />Monday, May 9, 2016 <br />7:00 o’clock p.m. <br />_____________________________________________________________________________________ <br />Page 1 of 28  <br />  <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> <br />The Orono City Council met on the above-mentioned date with the following members present: Mayor <br />Lili Tod McMillan, Council Members James Cornick, Jr., Lizz Levang, Aaron Printup, and Dennis <br />Walsh. Representing Staff were City Administrator Jessica Loftus, Finance Director Ron Olson, <br />Community Development Director Jeremy Barnhart, Senior Planner Michael Gaffron, Planning <br />Coordinator Melanie Curtis, Public Works Director/City Engineer Adam Edwards, City Attorney Soren <br />Mattick, and Recorder Jackie Young. <br /> <br />Mayor McMillan called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m., followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br /> <br />Item Nos. 6, 9, 13, 14, 17, and 18 were added to the Consent Agenda. Item No. 3 was removed from the <br />Consent Agenda. <br /> <br />Levang moved, Cornick seconded, to approve the Consent Agenda as amended. VOTE: Ayes 5, <br />Nays 0. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />*2. ORONO CITY COUNCIL MINUTES OF APRIL 25, 2016 <br /> <br />Levang moved, Cornick seconded, to approve the minutes of the Orono City Council meeting of <br />April 25, 2016, as submitted. VOTE: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br /> <br />3. ORONO CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION OF APRIL 25, 2016 <br /> <br />Walsh requested the work session minutes be corrected to include the following: <br /> <br />Item No. 3, Council Member Levang also voiced her opposition to a school subcommittee. <br /> <br />Item No. 4, road funding and planning, Walsh mentioned that the City had $25,000 set aside for Old <br />Crystal Bay Road, with the school also putting up $25,000, but that the Mayor wanted to see what the <br />prices were for the Hunter and Tamarack road projects first. <br /> <br />Item No. 4, Walsh stated because the City received good bids for the Watertown Road project, the City <br />has an extra $600,000 in the City’s MSA account for 2016, and with the MSA aid for 2017, and Orono <br />can complete the Fox Street project from Willow to Brown. Any excess dollars could be put away for the <br />non-MSA roads, which is Brown to Orchard and Old Crystal Bay to Willow. <br /> <br />McMillan suggested next time anyone makes corrections to the minutes that they specifically identify the <br />page and paragraph number to make it easier for the person who is making the corrections. <br /> <br />City Administrator Loftus stated if everyone is fine with those corrections, she can add those items. <br /> <br />Council Member Levang stated she would like to see the comments in writing prior to approving the <br />minutes.
