Mastny
15 Brown Road South
Long Lake, MN 55356
Re: 15 Brown Road South
Dear Mr. Mastny:
This letter concerns the temporary room rental sign attached
to your mailbox for the past month at the above referenced
address. Rental signs cannot be located within the road right-
of-way and must be placed at least 5 feet in from the Brown Road
right-of-way.
In regard to the purpose and legality of this rental sign,
the City ordinances permit the rental of a single residence to no
more than four unrelated persons (Section 10.02, Def. 22 , see
enclosed). Your sign clearly states that you offer a room for
rent, I must ask that you contact my of f ice to conf irm that you
of f er a room and not an apartment f or rent. If, in rea 1 ity, it
is considered an apartment, you would have to apply for a
conditional use permit from the City to permit such use.
The Orono Municipal Code contains a fee schedule that would
require a permit for temporary signs. Please note Section 10.61,
Subdivision l, H (enclosed) would limit the use of such signs to
three months. If you intend to sti 11 maintain the sign at your
residence, you must obtain the appropriate permit.
Please contact my office at your earliest convenience so
that I my answer any questions you my have regarding this matter,
in addition, to the City receiving the necessary confirmation
regarding the nature of the proposed rental unit.
Si cerely,
I L(• /'/ TIU
I eanne A.
