i , , <br /> clt� o� oR,oNO . <br /> �,� <br /> �. . <br /> RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCI L <br /> NO. 1517 � <br /> • . <br /> • - • • . • <br /> A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING TH.E PETITION OF THE LAKE MINNE'�ONKA <br /> CONSERVATION DISTRICT SUBMITTED TO THE BOARD OF MANAGERS IN JULY, 1975 <br /> TO CONSTRUCT AN UPPER WATERSHED STORAGE AND RETENTION PROJECT/CP-5 <br /> PAINTER CREEK <br /> �' WHEREAS, .the City of Orono has always been concerned with <br /> excessive fYooding and deteriorating water quality in the Painters <br /> Creek subwatershed including LakeKatrinaand South Katrinaareas; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Orono City Council has , since July, 1975 , <br /> discussed at great lengths the proposed project as a result of the Lake <br /> Minnetonka Conservation District petition to the Minnehaha Creek <br /> Watershed District and is in full support of the proposed project; and � <br /> WHEREAS , the governing board of the Lake Minnetonka <br /> Conservation District has submitted to the Board of Managers of the <br /> Minnehaha Creek Wate�rshed District a petition requesting the <br /> �� construction of structures to enhance the retention and storage of <br /> storm water runoff in existing retention areas in the Painters Creek <br /> subwatershed of the upper drainage basin of Lake Minnetonka ; and <br /> � WHEREAS, the proposed project is consistent with the <br /> Minnehaha CreekWatershed District and the City of Orono ' s basic water <br /> management plan; and <br /> WHEREAS, theproposed upperwatershed storageandretention <br /> project within the Painter Creek subwatershed will improve_ the water <br /> quality and provide flood control in the watershed area and Lake <br /> Minnetonka and othe'r water bodies in the proposed watershed area; and . <br /> . WHEREAS, the petitioner proposes that the cost of the <br /> project be assessed against all taxable properties within the <br /> Minnehaha Creek Watershed District by the levy of �a tax not to exceed <br /> one-third mill annu�lly; and <br /> WHEREAS, the estimated cost of the improvement including <br /> engineering and administration costs will not exceed $444 , 120 in 1984 <br /> dollars. + � <br /> � <br />
