No. 930 2 <br />Dear Jim: <br />I visited the sitc of the above referenced project on March <br />26, 1993 to review the large wooden decorative beams which <br />are to be supported by the wood roof trusses. <br />We recommend the following in order to adequately support <br />the beams: <br />Main beam (runs perpendicular to roof trussesN connection: <br />Use 2-3/4" a A307 lag boits on each aids of main beam. <br />Bolts to pass through blocking between roof trusses and side <br />beams and penetrate a mirimum of 4 inches into main beam. <br />Drill pilot hole in main beams and advance lag bolt by <br />screwing - do not hammer into place. <br />Side beam (runs parallel with roof trusses) connection: Use <br />3/4" o A307 lag bolts at 4'-0" o.c. Penetrate minimum 4 <br />inches into beam.
