On February 13, 1973 you called the Village of
Orono for a framing inspection for the property at 4305 Chippewa Lane, the
home you are building for Mr. Virgil Larson. I made nspect on n
that same day and found the entire first floor already sheetrocked.
Apparently you started sheetrocking last week at least four working
days before calling for an inspection. I am, therefore, stopping work
on this job until you remove an adequate amount of sheetrock so that the
job may be properly inspected.
On the walk -out level where the sheetrocking has not yet been completed,
I did observe some problems: (1) You set the walls before you poured
the floor and as a result some of the bottom 2 x 4 wood plates are beneath
the level of the concrete floor. As you are undoubtedly aware, these
plates will be subjected to moisture and after the walls are rocked,
will not have the benefit of ventilation and, therefore, will decompose.
These plates will have to be removed and either replaced with redwood or
raised above the floor level. (2) The 2 x 4 bearing wall should be
blocked mid-heighth.
If you have any questions, please contact me at the above number.
Since
ly yours,
//
/
/James G.
Shau nessy
Building
Ins ector
JGS/js
cc: Jim Cosby
Orono City Manager
