Mayor Peterson cal led the meeting <br />at 7:00 P,M. <br />members <br />Jabbour, <br />absent. <br />ator Ron <br />Si Zon i ng <br />and City <br />to order <br />(#1) YEAR XVIII CDBG FUNDING - <br />PUBLIC HEARING - 7:00 - 7:24 P.M. <br />The affidavit of publication was noted. <br />Moorse explained that the City, for the past two years, has <br />received‘a I Iocations through Federal funding for the Community <br />Development Block Grant Program (CDBG). Part of the requirement <br />for receipt of the fundi g is that the City nold a public hearing <br />to determine allocation of funds. He noted this year the amount <br />of funding is approximately $25,600. He stated that last year the <br />majority of the funding was used for housing rehabiIitation loans. <br />He explained that this year tne proposaI is to allocate $1,000 each <br />to Westonka Community Action and Westonka Intervent I on. The person <br />at the County responsible for helping tie City determine <br />allocations indicated that Interfaith Outreach had wanted to start <br />a transportat I on program last year, but was unable to gei that <br />program coordinated and did not request additional funding for the <br />upcoming year. <br />Goetten stated she did not care whether Interfaith Outreach had an <br />upcoming project or not, there is a 10% increase in aid needed in <br />this area and felt it Important to give to that organization. She <br />offered to review the situation. <br />Gerhardson Indicated Interfaith Outreach had not used the funding <br />allocated last year and the money was still with Hennepin County. <br />The funding has to be used for a program approved by the County. <br />He noted the money has to be used v.ithin 18 months.
