RESOLUTION NO. 619 <br />A RESOLUTION OUTLINING REDISTRICTING CRITERIA <br />TO BE USED BY THE HENNEPIN COUNTY BOARD OF <br />COMMISSIONERS <br />WHEREAS, the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners is directed by the laws <br />of the State of Minnesota to redistrict itself by July 15, 1975 and to increase its <br />membership to seven, and <br />WHERFAS the`Population Distribution in the County is currently 45.2`,6 Minneapolis <br />and 54.8% outside of Minneapolis and County Commissioner Districts should reflect <br />this population distribution, and <br />WHEREAS there are differences in needs and problems existing in the different <br />communities in the County, <br />NOW TH'EREF'ORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of urges the <br />Commissioners of the County of Hennepin to conform to Chapter 576 of the Laws of <br />Minnesota, 1974 which states that "Each district shall be composed of contiguous <br />territory as regular in form and as nearly equal in population as practicable" <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in conforming to the State Statute above mentioned, <br />the Commissioners of Hennepin County adopt the following suggestions as fair and <br />equitable guidelines for its redistricting responsibilities and decisions: <br />1. Except for Minneapolis, where precinct lines shall not be crossed, each <br />Hennepin County Municipality shall be fully contained within one of the <br />commissioner districts. <br />2. The seven districts shall be distributed into... three wholly suburban <br />districts, three districts wholly within Minneapolis (plus St. Anthony) and <br />one district which is wholly rural. <br />3.
