Gerhardson <br />Title Public Works Director <br />Administrator Reviewed:Agenda Section: <br />Public Works <br />Item Description: Community Development Block Grant 1995 <br />For 1995 the City of Orono will receive $23,918 from the Community Development Block Grant <br />Program (CDBG). <br />The following is the recommended allocation of the CDBG funds, as indicated in the public <br />hearing notice: <br />We Can $ 1 *500 <br />Westonka Intervention 1.500 <br />Interfaith Outreach and Community Partners (lOCP) 1,500 <br />H.'.;-.ing and Rehabilitation 16,418 <br />Sewer Connection Grant 3,'nil <br />The Council may change this allocation based on information received at the public hearing, or <br />based on other perceived needs. <br />We Can, Westonka Intervention and lOCP are public service organizations and have been funded <br />from CDBG for several years. <br />Housing Rehabilitation has not been funded for two years and there is a waiting list for funds. <br />The allocation for the sewer connection grant anticipates a new sewer project resulting in an <br />additional need for connection cost assistance. <br />Also be advised that there is a balance of $19,999.72 in the Stubbs Bay Sewer Connection Grant <br />program. That program is now in phase two. Hennepin County has sent out four applications <br />to-date and has not received any completed applications back. Residents in the Stiibbs Bay <br />sewer area have until June 30, 1995 to submit an application for a lump sum amount toward the <br />total cost of the connection. If the full connection grant allocation is not used, the Council will <br />be able to reallocate those funds to other approved uses. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Motion to adopt a resolution to approve the allocation of the 1995 CDBG funds
