Police ClhefSiephany (uhhI. and Cily <br />Planning Hireelor, Mike (ialTron. <br />Others Present: Ciabriel Jabbour and Jim Murphy. <br />Call to Order: Ma\or IVlcrsim called the meeting to order al 5:15 p.m. <br />1 . Gabriel Jabbour and Jim Murphy updated the C'ouncil regarding progress on developing a budget <br />and schematic design for the Long Lake l ire Station. <br />2. Ilie C'ouncil discussed the use of the three acres of the 340 W illow Drive site tlial will remain <br />after the Long Lake fire station is constructed. It was the consensus of the Council to preserv e the <br />remaining land lor a senior housing use vs. moving the homes acquired by Mn/DO I on I larrington <br />Drive in Long Luke to the site. <br />3. Police Chierstephany (iood provided the Council with a Police Department update. C'hiefCicM^d <br />has led the Department through a strategic planning process that has identified strengths and <br />weaknesses in the Department, its well as action steps to build on the strengths and address the <br />weaknesses. One of the action steps was to hire a consultant to assist in resolving conflicts in the <br />department that wea* getting in the way of the department moving fonvard. Otief (iikkI is currently <br />follow ing through on implementing the a*commendations of the consultant. Chief CuhkI reported <br />that both morale and productivity have inca*ascd substantially. <br />4. MiH>rsc a*commended that Officer Bruce Andenam. who was in a corporal position prior to the <br />Police IXrparlment retirgani/aiion of mid-2000. be provided with a lump .ium pavmenl equivalent <br />to the 3°o corporal dilTerential pay he would have aveived if he would have continued to sene as <br />corpimil for the amiainder of 21KK). Ilie C ouncil aga*ed v\iih the a*commendaiion. <br />5. MiH>rse a*commended an interim moratorium be put in place a-garding telecommunications <br />hicilities and structures to enable a study of options agarding telecommunications facilities and <br />structures in the city's a\sidenlial di.slricls.
