The piezometers and monitoring well will allow the observation of
groundwater elevations on the subject property. The groundwater elevations will be recorded for
a minimum of 12 months to determine the presence of high groundwater on the subject site. The
presence of high groundwater is a detemuning factor in the locating of a drain field for a new
onsite wastewater system(OWS).
Three piezometers were installed at depths of 66 inches, 38 inches and 28 inches below the
ground surface. These depths were selected based on the results of ow soil investigation
indicating a soil texture, soil color or soil structure change at or neaz these depths. The
piezometers are constructed of 1.5 inch schedule 40 pvc pipe with the bottom of the pipe capped.
Holes were drilled from the bottom of the pipe to six inches from the bottom of the pipe. A
mesh screen was installed around the perforated area of the pipe to prevent clogging. A sand
pack was installed around and 2 inches above the screened area with a bentonite baclill to the
ground surface.
One monitoring well was installed to a depth of 68 inches. The monitoring well is constructed of
1.5 inch schedule 40 pvc pipe with the bottom of the pipe capped. Holes were drilled from the
bottom of the pipe to within 12 inches from the ground surface. A mesh screen was installed
around the perforated area of the pipe to prevent clogging. A sand pack was installed azound and
2 inches above the screened area with a bentonite backfill to the ground surface.
At the time of the installation, groundwater was not observed in any of the piezometers or the
monitoring well. Observations will be made and recorded at a minimum of once per month for
